The University of New Orleans Strategic Planning Committee oversees multiple university-wide efforts, including the process for Academic Excellence; academic program review; the enhancement of student learning and academic success; budget planning and development; and the university's five-year plan for capitol improvements.
Overview of Strategic Planning
UNO's Strategic Planning Committee oversees aspects of the strategic plan. It provides oversight of academic excellence, enhancement of student learning and academic success, budget planning and policy development, and capital improvement to address both student learning and campus quality of life. This Committee remains active to oversee reporting and implementation of the plan.
Following are the colleges and major units that produce Institutional Effectiveness plans and reports.
This structure represents the 2009 university reorganization.

Academic Excellence
The annual Academic Excellence planning process requires faculty to examine their current academic programs, categorize the status of those programs, plainly state aspirations, and identify future needs. Each college assesses its plans and prioritizes its proposals. Deans submit their prioritized requests to the University Strategic Planning Committee in early Spring.
The Committee reviews college proposals and makes recommendations, based on university priorities, to the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee, in turn, deliberates and refers the final recommendations to the Chancellor. Decisions are announced by the Chancellor following the annual June Executive Committee meeting.
This budget calendar represents a typical university budgeting cycle showing the relationship between enrollment assessments, Institutional Effectiveness, financial recommendations, unit requests, identification of revenues, budget construction and distribution.
